"We all get hurt by love,
and we all have our cross to bear,
but in the name of understanding now,
our problems should be shared." - Confide In Me, Kylie Minogue
I have been waiting for some time to listen to Kate Bush's "Director's Cut" and I have finally managed to listen to it.
What can I say other then it is AWFUL. What the hell was the woman thinking? I have been a fan for a few years now and I own all her albums. I think she is a brilliant composer and producer who has done fantastic songs such as This Woman's Work, Moments of Pleasure, Wuthering Heights, Running up that Hill and many many more.
By making this album (a reworked collection of some older songs from the fab albums The Sensual World and The Red Shoes) she has not earned any points on my behalf. Like I said I have loved her for years, but I feel the reworkings of the songs on this album plain awful with perhaps the exception of Moments of Pleasure.
I just hope the new album is better than this, for I have a feeling I am not going to be listening to Director's Cut alot in the future. If anyone has heard this album, please let me know what you think, I can't be the only one who feels this way about these reworkings.
No sooner had I posted about my fascination with Kate Bush these days, I found out that she is going to release a new album called "50 Words For Snow" in late November. It sounds very interesting, with the concept of snow as the inspiration. I for one am going to buy this one when it is released.
Kate to release brand new album: "50 Words For Snow" on 21 November
We are extremely pleased to announce that Kate will be releasing a brand new album: "50 Words For Snow" on 21 November 2011
The album will be the second release from Kate's own label Fish People and comprises all new material that was recorded during the same period that Kate worked on her album “Director’s Cut”.
“50 Words For Snow” will feature seven brand new tracks set against a background of falling snow. The total running time is 65 minutes and the track listing is:
SNOWFLAKES LAKE TAHOE MISTY WILDMAN SNOWED IN AT WHEELER STREET 50 WORDS FOR SNOW AMONG ANGELS
Just a quick note saying that I am still here, but been very busy lately. I did however watch a fantastic documentary the other day about the fabulous yet eclectic Kate Bush and her groundbreaking album "Hounds of Love"
After watching this documentary, which is titled "Hounds of Love: A classic album under review" I was reminded of Kate Bush's brilliance so I am starting to re-visit all her albums and enjoying them all again :)
The only album I had ever listened to over and over again with Kate Bush was "Hounds of Love" so I am trying to immerse myself into all her albums and I am still stuck on "The Kick Inside" which is brilliant.
I have always loved Kate Bush and her music, but it wasn't until in 2003 that I discovered the masterpiece "Hounds of Love" and to this day it is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. The way she sings and performs, produces and writes on this album is pure brilliance.
Even though some of he stuff needs patience and repeat listening there is no denying she is a very talented artist in a league of her own.
Let's just hope she will release a new album soon (been 6 years already, and then there was 12 year gap before that).
Here are some of her all time greatest songs and my personal faves:
