About Bloody Time

Westlife are about to call it quits and I have to say it is about bloody time. Don't get me wrong, they have probably made music that made other people happy, but not me.

I may have liked one or two songs with them for maybe 5 minutes, but after they made that horrendous version of When You Tell Me That You Love Me with Diana Ross I have, to put it politely, really disliked them. For Diana Ross to have even considered duetting with them on her song is beyond me. She even has to sing some of the notes in a lower key to accommodate their "vocals". This was not the only song they have degraded, but I am glad they are about to call it quits.

Here is some info about their split as posted on AuspOp. I am sure however that their forthcoming Best Of will sell by truckloads. But you can be sure it will not be found in my home this christmas!!!

SHOCK AS BOYBAND SPLITS

They've had an extraordinary career, with a staggering 14 number one UK singles, 26 top ten UK hits and eleven top five albums across 14 long years of being one of Britain's (and the world's) best loved boybands.
But after more than 44 million album sales around the world, Irish boyband Westlife have decided to call it a day.
They released a statement that in part said, "The decision is entirely amicable and after spending all of our adult life together so far, we want to have a well-earned break and look at new ventures. We see the greatest hits collection and the farewell tour as the perfect way to celebrate our incredible career along with our fans. We are really looking forward to getting out on the tour and seeing our fans one last time.
"Over the years Westlife has become so much more to us than just a band. Westlife are a family. We would like to thank our fans who have been with us on this amazing journey and are part of our family too.
"We never imagined when we started out in 1998 that 14 years later we would still be recording, touring and having hits together. It has been a dream come true for all of us."
The band's final single 'Lighthouse' will be released to media in Australia on Monday November 07. Penned by Gary Barlow and John Shanks, the track is lifted from Westlife's forthcoming Greatest Hits package (pictured below).
The new best-of will get an Australian release in both standard and deluxe editions, the latter containing two discs and a DVD.
Both will be released in Australia on Friday November 25.

  1. GOOD RIDDANCE! Never could stand them! And how DARED they luring The Magnificent One into doing a track with them (well, SOMEONE had to try and save it, I guess...)

  2. Always hated them, always will. I will never forgive them for that duet with old fat-arse Mariah-bloody-Carey either.

To my eternal shame I saw them on stage at the Proms in the Park last month. They were so inconsequential that we were able to enjoy ourselves in spite of them (or maybe that was the perfect moment to go to the loo? I forget).
